(More customer reviews)This book has a very detailed review of many major operas in history! Also contains a history on how opera has evolved throughout the years. It is actually quite interesting to read as well. Look here first to see if there is an opera that you are doing a paper on or if you need to look up more information about a role you are portraying in a particular opera. For example, I was doing a paper on the character of Cherubino and I gained a great deal of knowledge about how other characters perceive him in the opera which gave me more information about how I would portray this character. Of course, not every opera will be in the book, but there are so many operas that it's hard to list them all in a comprehensive book for a class on an overview of opera literature.
